Get to Know Bindable’s Award-winning Insurance Agency

Last month, Bindable’s in-house digital insurance agency, MassDrive, was awarded Personal Insurance Agent of the Year for the New England region by Travelers Insurance. The award is a recognition of our team’s excellent customer service, dedication to our community, and commitment to Travelers. Bindable President, Jean-Marie Lovett, accepted the award on behalf of our agency, alongside ten other distinguished award recipients from agencies across the United States and Canada.  

We are so proud of all the work our agents do everyday that led us to this recognition. Our agency is truly an integral part of Bindable, and we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them; read on to see why!

Agency history

Bindable’s roots go back to 2009, when our CEO, Bill Suneson, co-founded MassDrive Insurance Group, LLC (MassDrive). MassDrive began in response to the deregulation of auto insurance in Massachusetts (hence the name!), before expanding nationally in 2016 through our MyLifeProtected brand and offering multi-carrier auto and home insurance comparison shopping services to affinity partners. Our agency business today is done through the MyLifeProtected brand, with MassDrive Insurance Group, LLC serving as the licensed agent.

While our technology is at the core of our current business, it was born from the need for a solution to help our own agents. We understood the unique challenges that our agents had when it came to efficiency. We also had an interest in providing better, more streamlined experiences for our end consumers. We created a solution that met the needs of many, which today is known as Policy Crusher®, our agent-facing software and CRM solution. It wasn’t long before other carriers, brands, and agencies started inquiring about adopting Policy Crusher for their own use. Thus, we began licensing our technology as a service under the name of Bindable™ in 2018.

As Bindable’s history shows, our B2B2C insurance distribution solutions are only possible through the thoughtful combination of our proprietary technology and our professional digital insurance agency services. Through these two channels, we are able to power scalable insurance distribution solutions that are built to enhance any go-to-market business strategy.

What makes us different

Both traditional insurance players and new entrants alike leverage our digital agency services to improve customer loyalty and retention in a competitive market. Here are a few reasons why we believe our agency stands out in the industry.

Insurance-as-a-Service model

Bindable’s Insurance-as-a-Service (IaaS) model enables businesses to quickly launch a modern, multi-product digital insurance platform for their customers. This offering leverages our team of nationally-licensed agents under the MassDrive and MyLifeProtected brands to provide our clients with access to multiple leading insurance carriers and a diverse product mix to create flexible, market-ready insurance solutions that meet customers where, when, and how they want to shop.

In our IaaS model, our business customers sell insurance through our agents, and thus are able to offer a range of products from the nation’s leading carriers (like Travelers!) through our carrier appointments (a huge benefit considering the amount of time and effort it takes to secure a contract to sell a carrier’s products on your own). The ability to offer a variety of choice is a critical component to attracting consumers in today’s hardening auto and home insurance markets. Additionally, our team of agents provides exceptional support on behalf of our IaaS clients to their customers – including custom, branded phone scripting – which can lead to higher conversion rates and increased revenue. 

Our IaaS model offers a method for businesses to meet changing customer expectations via a turnkey solution built to help quickly launch an insurance program without investing in or tackling the complexities of a back-end agency infrastructure.

Technology

Throughout our company’s history, we have continuously improved upon our own technology which has enabled our agency to grow. As mentioned, we developed our own proprietary agent software platform, Policy Crusher, to support agent quoting, cross-selling, and lead management. Policy Crusher streamlines the process so our agents can compare multiple carriers and products in one platform and seamlessly connect with customers shopping online or over the phone. Ensuring our agents have the best possible selling experiences in turn improves the buying experience for customers, increasing satisfaction and encouraging loyalty.

Our team

We know that in order to holistically serve our customers, we must genuinely understand their varying needs. That’s why we have a strong track record of hiring people from diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Approximately a quarter of our agents are Hispanic or African American, while 40% of our agency management roles are held by women. Many agents have been with us for more than five years, and we represent every time zone. We speak multiple languages and celebrate different cultures. Some of our agents are just starting their careers in insurance and bring unique insights to our team, while others have decades of industry experience. We are very proud of each and everyone of our agents, and we feel very lucky to have them on our team!

While of course we think our agency is the best there is, you don’t have to just take our word for it! Our Net Promoter Score (NPS) on average remains in the upper 80s to low 90s each month. By comparison, the average NPS for independent insurance agents usually ranges from 60-75.

When we started MassDrive 14 years ago, not many people “got” what we were doing. It was hard for people to comprehend the concept of a digital agency. More than a decade later, you could say we were ahead of our time. Now, digital experiences aren’t the exception to the rule; they are the rule.
